Day 06

EDFU - KOM OMBO SIGHTSEEING, CRUISE TO ASWAN

Wake up to another delightful breakfast on board the ship, and shortly after you have finished, you will be taken to see the remarkable Edfu Temple which was built during the Ptolemaic and Roman period. This temple was abandoned by the Roman, and in the years that followed it ended up being buried beneath the desert sand where it lay hidden for around 2,000. As a result of this, it is the best-preserved Ptolemaic temple ever discovered.

After spending some time exploring this ancient site, everyone returns to the ship and it will set sail for Kom Ombo. On arrival Kom Ombo, you will once again disembark and you will be taken to visit Kom Ombo Temple. This is essentially a double temple, with one being built as a mirror image of the other. The reason for this being that the complex was dedicated to two ancient gods, Horus, and Sobek the crocodile god.

Return to the waiting cruise ship, and shortly after everyone is back on board, another good lunch will be served, and it will cruise gracefully towards Aswan. This afternoon will be a perfect opportunity to relax and unwind on this magnificent river cruiser while it is heading for Aswan. Enjoy an excellent dinner in the evening, and a wonderful night’s rest in your cabin, on the water at Aswan.

Day 07

ASWAN SIGHTSEEING

Begin the 7th day of your Pyramids and Nile Cruise Holidays package with another splendid breakfast on board your 5-Star river cruiser, and then it will be time for you and other members of your group to disembark for some sightseeing.

Your first stop during this tour will be at the Aswan High Dam, an engineering accomplishment which changed the face and future of Egypt forever. It is also what gave birth to Lake Nasser as we see it today. From here you will head to the northern region of the area’s ancient stone quarries to see the Unfinished Obelisk which is the biggest obelisk ever discovered.

Lastly, you will visit the breathtaking Temple of Philae. This ancient temple, which was dedicated to two goddesses, Isis and Hathor, once stood on a tiny island but after the High Dam was completed and the water level of Lake Nasser started rising, the temple was relocated in its entirety in order to prevent it from being lost forever. This is without question one of the best ancient attractions in the country, and visiting this site will be an experience you are not likely to forget.

After visiting these three sites, you will return to the vessel, and then it will soon be time for another mouthwatering lunch, after which you will have the remainder of the day to yourself to do as you wish. Enjoy a good dinner in the evening, and one last night sleeping in your cabin.
